"The biggest injury of my career," admits Hafthor Bjornsson

Hafthor Bjornsson suffered an injury on Saturday 15 April 2023 during a powerlifting competition at his Icelandic gym that will surely be a huge setback for his return to strength sports. Although the strongman seems to be in good spirits, he admits that it is a serious injury. Thor, the 2018 World's Strongest Man and three-time Arnold Strongman Classic champion, was planning a massive return to strength sports after his stint in boxing. Part of that comeback was to include an attempt to break the world.

On Monday, April 17, 2023, Hafthor posted a short video on his official YouTube channel detailing the injury and providing an update. In the video, he confirmed that the injury is a torn pectoral muscle. Although he still doesn't know the full extent of the damage - he believes it is very serious - he said he thinks he "completely tore the upper chest off the bone."

Bjornsson seems to view this injury as a new challenge to overcome and therefore remains optimistic. At the same time, however, he is under no illusions about the challenge that awaits him and the seriousness of such a scale. Hafthor also admits that this injury is "thebiggest injury of my career".
