Samson Dauda opens up about health issues and confirms he will take part in the Arnold Classic 2024 in the UK

Samson Dauda is recovering from an illness he suffered after finishing second at the 2024 Arnold Classic Ohio. In recent Instagram posts, Dauda shared his health issues and confirmed his participation in the 2024 Arnold Classic UK, which takes place March 15-17 in Birmingham, England.
"I've gotten so much love in the last 24 hours, hell I can't even get through them all. I really appreciate it," Dauda said. "It's been a lot and I've been through so much."
It's been a wild ride for Samson Dauda, still one of the Open Division's biggest stars, since finishing third at Olympia 2023. Instead of resting on his laurels, Dauda has scored two consecutive wins at the Romania Muscle Fest Pro and the EVLS Prague Pro. From there, he committed to competing at the Arnold Classic Ohio and UK 2024.
When it came time to fight for the Ohio title, former AC 2023 champion Dauda's fullness and form put him in second place behind newly crowned titleholder Hadi Choopan. Although Dauda had previously been set to compete on Arnold's British show, his entry was jeopardised after he revealed he had to head to hospital due to a "body failure".
Fortunately, Dauda informed his fans of the setback and signed up to compete again the following weekend. He explained that he is taking antibiotics, but intends to fight in his Birmingham, England, home despite these difficulties.
Samson Dauda will take part in the Arnold Classic 2024 in the UK and details his health problems
Following a visit to the doctor, Dauda believes fans caused the rumour that his health seemed worse than it was.
"As far as where we are now, we visited my doctor yesterday, of course yesterday I said I don't feel too good. But I don't know why people are blowing it up and making it crazier than they think. I've heard all kinds of speculation and everything else."
He also spoke about his body's vulnerability after the show, pointing out that interacting at busy events like the Arnold Classic Expo makes him particularly susceptible to illness.
"I said yesterday, look, when you're on so little body fat and you have so few calories and you spend so many days around a very very busy event non-stop, your body is vulnerable and susceptible, it's just susceptible to colds and flu, there's nothing shocking about that."
"My voice is still hoarse as a pig, I felt completely exhausted this morning, but I feel better now and feel that I'm hopefully out of the woods. People just want something to talk about."
Dauda is now taking antibiotics for his cough and is feeling better thanks to some much needed rest.
"I got antibiotics yesterday for this cough that was coming up from my chest. I finally got a good night's sleep yesterday and I feel much better this morning."
He also mentioned that the Arnold Classic 2024 UK means more to him than most events because it will be held in his hometown where friends and family can watch him live.
"I was shocked how bad I felt the last few days," Dauda confided. "This show is being held in my hometown and my friends and family haven't seen me compete since I graduated from Arnold UK in 2021."
"I'm ready to go into this fight. It's personal to me. It's for people I love and care about. This one is like British stand-up. I've been representing for long enough and when we have a show here at home on my turf. I wouldn't want to miss the show for the world, so yes. I'm definitely performing at the Arnold UK next week. Don't believe anything you hear elsewhere!"
