Samson Dauda on the aftermath of Mr. Olympia 2023: "Negativity goes too far."

After an impressive showing of 11 divisions at the Mr. Olympia 2023 competition, the event garnered negative attention in the bodybuilding community. Samson Dauda, who just competed on the Olympia stage, expressed his disdain for the negativity that surrounds the sport.
"We should all be positive together, otherwise the people who want to be a part of the sport and the people who want to be interested in the sport will dwindle," Dauda said.
The Mr. Olympia 2023 competition was a riveting showcase of talent and skill that resulted in titles being handed out in seven divisions. While most of them were impressive performances that were met with rapt attention, one in particular was plagued by dissatisfaction from connoisseurs of the sport.
The Fourth of November made history when Derek Lunsford was not only crowned the new Mr. Olympia champion, but also became the first two-division champion when he won the 212 title and now the Men's Open. While Lunsford should be enjoying his victory in peace after his win, he is facing an onslaught of criticism and even threats to his family.
Samson Dauda is against negativity in bodybuilding
Dauda speaks out on the negativity that has engulfed the sport. In a recent Instagram post, Samson Dauda revealed how much bodybuilding means to him and how incredible it felt when he came in third place last weekend.
"Believe me, the guys that show up on the podium sacrificed a lot for this. We all sacrificed a lot to be on that stage. We're the best in the world at what we do. It doesn't come by accident, it comes through a lot of hard work and sacrifice and when they're on stage and someone criticizes them, you know the difference between character criticism and personal criticism that tears you apart. It's sad to see."
"I think there was too much negativity," Dauda added.
