Pereira defeated Prochazka!

Jiří Procházka showed a great performance, but he couldn't hold on to a deadly left hook from Pereira. This created a crisis situation where the referee may have intervened earlier than necessary. Unfortunately, history will not answer this question. So Jiri Prochazka takes the loss, while Alex Pereira becomes the welterweight champion. Jiri smelled blood and attacked Pereira, but even in the small space he was able to use his left hook, which got Jiri in trouble.

The auto-pilot activated and BJP began a takedown attempt. However, Poatan quickly reacted there as well and landed some venomous elbows that sent Jiri to the ground. He may have tried another offensive here, but the referee decided to stop the fight, which may have been unnecessarily early. Unfortunately for Jiri it meant defeat and for Alex it meant victory, which he used to challenge rival Adesanya for his second title.

"I'm not surprised at all that it turned out this way. I hit him hard and he immediately pounced on my legs. I kept attacking from there, so I think it was an okay ending," Alex Pereira responded to the end of the fight.

"I am honoured to score another win at MSG. It's a very important place for me. Of course I'm happy to have won the title. I'm very grateful. I'm not a guy who just challenges anybody, but there's a guy I'm not done with. He once talked about me just being the guy who would go around the bars saying he won.

That's what motivated me to work hard and get to this point. He said he wouldn't be back until 2027, but I think he's a very talented guy who shouldn't waste his time. So I'll save him and give him a chance. We've fought many times and we can do it again. Adesanya, I'm here," continued Pereira, who challenged his rival to another fight.
