Nick Walker reveals when we'll see him competing again after a horrific injury!
Few athletes have caused such a stir among the heavyweights as Nick Walker. It is enough to remember that the athlete nicknamed Mutant got his pro card in December 2020 by winning the North American Championships, but the very next season he managed to win some of the most prestigious competitions - the Arnold Classic and the New York PRO. However, his dream career has only just begun, as he placed among the top five competitors at Mr. Olympia that same year.
When it came to the 2022 competition year, his relentless pursuit of physique improvement earned him a bronze in bodybuilding's most prestigious competition - and even Nick said after the race that he could have been second. And so it was only logical that everyone was quite anxious to see what Mutant would actually do in the upcoming season.
As we informed you immediately after the incident, Nick badly injured his hamstring just days before the anticipated Olympia, and as it turned out later, the injury also involved his calf. He did not take part in the planned competition and instead had to settle for a long recovery. During that time, for example, he admitted that he thought he deserved a special invitation to the Olympics, which would have allowed him to participate without having to qualify.

But it doesn't seem to happen yet, so Nick has to accept the only remaining option - to qualify the normal way, by winning one of the IFBB professional league competitions. And so the twenty-nine year old athlete has to think what competition will be the best for him.
"There is no special invitation. But to be honest, I'd rather earn a ticket to the Olympia anyway. I'm okay with that and once I earn it, I'm going to come out strong and win. Arnold is not for me - it's too soon. I don't feel ready to compete in four weeks," admits the likeable giant.
And what races did Nick end up choosing? While there would certainly be a number of events where the competition wouldn't be nearly as high, Mutant certainly isn't taking the easiest route. In fact, he's reaching for a competition he's won in the past, the New York PRO, which will take place in mid-May.
"That being said, I think two medals from the New York PRO is better than one. So I'll see you at the New York PRO and you should all be ready for it because you know I will be!"
So Nick has sent a clear message to his competitors and given that he is taking quite a bit of time to prepare, you can expect him to be planning some really big things. On the other hand, Blessing Awodibu, who in the past claimed to be the king of New York, or even Sergio Oliva Jr. who is preparing for the said competition under the guidance of the legendary Dorian Yates, are also planning their participation. So it's already abundantly clear that the competition will be full of big stars and we have a lot to look forward to.
