More than 5 million crowns will be up for grabs at Masters Olympia 2023!

As we informed you at the end of last year, after eleven long years, the prestigious Masters Olympia is returning to the professional competition scene!

It will take place on 26th and 27th August in Cluj, Romania, and will be contested in ten categories.

Four of the categories will be men's, namely:

• bodybuilding open
• bodybuilding up to 212 pounds
• classic physique
• physique

Women will get their chance in the following six categories:

• bodybuilding
• physique
• fitness
• figure
• bikini fitness
• wellness

Only invited competitors will get on the competition stage, however, the selection will be made from those who are interested in participating. Individual applications for participation in the competition will be accepted until 10 April, from which those who will receive an invitation to participate will be selected.

Originally, it was said that only those who would be at least 45 years old on the day of the competition could apply. However, the latest post on the competition's official Instagram profile informs that this threshold has been lowered to 40 years of age, across all of the announced categories.

Another new feature is that the winners of each category will directly qualify for Olympia Weekend 2023! This may motivate many competitors to enter and try their luck, which could make it easier for them to qualify than some of the regular events. This is because it removes the presence of young competitors, who often present an insurmountable barrier for the older ones.

Equally inspiring are the financial bonuses. Their total amount has been set at $229,000, i.e. just over 5,000,000 CZK! That's a nice sum, isn't it?

The list of competitors who will eventually receive an invitation to participate should be published on April 24.
