Kevin Levrone on Hadi Choopan at Mr. Olympia 2023: "He's on another level and wants to prove it to everyone"

With one day to go until the Mr. Olympia 2023 meet, the athletes are putting the finishing touches on the final stages of their preparation. In a recent video posted on YouTube on November 1, bodybuilding veteran Kevin Levrone talked about the mentality of Hadi Choopan as he heads toward his first Mr. Olympia title defense.

Last December, the 2022 Mr. Olympia competition ended with some major accomplishments. Hadi Choopan reigned supreme in the finals ahead of his teammate Derek Lunsford and third-place finisher Nick Walker. Meanwhile, former two-time title holder Mamdouh "Big Ramy" Elssbiay finished as high as fifth.

Levrone, who was a mainstay in the Open category in the 1990s, shared his take on Choopan's mentality ahead of this weekend. With Choopan's reign under threat, Levrone weighed in on how he believes the champion is handling the pressure.

"He's a raging bull" - Kevin Levrone explains Hadi Choopan's mentality

"When I look at him, I watch him and I go by what I feel from his character... and what little I know about him. I think his mindset is ahead of everybody else.

I say that because when I look at him, I can tell the guy is a tough guy. He's a raging bull. I don't see any weaknesses in his personality and character. I believe he has a killer instinct."

According to Levrone, Choopan has a lot to prove at Mr. Olympia 2023, considering how many people underestimated him.

"When I talk about his vision, I think if he wins, he will be even more hungry to get better. There's no doubt he's a hard-training fighter. There's no doubt in my mind that I know this kid definitely knows how to suffer and go into that gym and put in the work without people putting discs on the barbell for him, he doesn't have that wimpy kid personality.

I think this kid fits right in, he's hungry and he's aware that his country is behind him and what he's competing for will give him that extra drive he needs to get to the next level. Every Mr. Olympia I've competed against has always been better and better. I think this kid definitely wants to prove something. Prove that he's worthy of winning more than just two Mr. Olympia awards," Kevin Levrone shared his impressions.
