Kai Greene hints at a return to bodybuilding: 'Don't think of it as a comeback'

Men's Open star Kai Greene seems to be planning a big return to bodybuilding. On February 21, 2025, he shared a cryptic video in which he hinted at a possible comeback and stressed that he never retired from bodybuilding. He posted a video on Instagram of his arrival at Pittsburgh International Airport, where he had traveled from New York. While he did not explicitly confirm his participation in the New York Pro or the Pittsburgh Pro, many fans inferred this from the context of the video.

During his career, Greene has faced former seven-time Mr. Olympia winner Phil Heath. Their rivalry remains one of the sharpest and most legendary in the sport. Although he never managed to win the Sandow trophy, he did achieve three victories on the Arnold Classic scene (2009-2010, 2016).

Over the course of his career, he defeated a number of Open category stalwarts, including the late Shawn Rhoden, Dexter Jackson and Jay Cutler. His last competition was in 2016, when he won a gold medal at the Arnold Classic South America. Nearly a decade later, it seems we're closer than ever to the return of "The Predator" to the scene.

In a recent Instagram reel video, Greene talked about the possibility of a comeback and stressed that he never quit.

"When I wake up in the morning, it's because I have hope. I'm able to create the reality that I desire and that I'm willing to work for. Honestly, I've never quit a career," he explained.

"Today inspires me to get up in the gym - it's a statement of hope and I feel very, very optimistic about tomorrow. I would like to win. I would like to win," Kai Greene said.

"!!! Don't consider this a comeback !!!" said Greene.

If Greene were to come back and compete at the Pittsburgh Pro 2025, he would face huge competition from the likes of Nick Walker, Martin Fitzwater and Michal Krizanek, who have announced their participation in the May 10-11 event in Pittsburgh.
