Isabelle Nunes will not defend her title at the Arnold Classic Wellness International 2023

The second most prestigious fitness competition in the world, the Arnold Classic, will soon take place and will also welcome competitors from the Wellness division. This category has gained a lot of momentum over the past few years and has become a very attractive division.

Last year Isabelle Nunes won the Arnold Classic Wellness International. Her lower body muscle mass complemented her shorter physique very well and she had one of the most symmetrical figures in the Wellness division on the AC 2022 stage. Isabelle's win at the Wellness International was a surprise to many bodybuilding fans.

And Isabelle was supposed to compete in this year's edition, but due to health problems she decided to withdraw.

"Since last year I have been treating a knee injury (meniscus) and everything was fine and under control, I had the treatment in Brazil and trained without pain. But a few weeks ago, the pain became unbearable to the point that I couldn't walk, for example, in a supermarket or sit for a long time.

"I'm not an athlete who performs at 70-80%, I always want to perform at my best and unfortunately I wouldn't be able to do that in this condition. It was an extremely difficult decision to make, after all I am the reigning champion and I was preparing to defend my title. Believe me, the emotional pain is much worse than the physical pain of the knee, but at the moment I believe this is the best option."
