"I went into the fifth round thinking I was in the lead," Karlos Vémola finally commented on his fight with Kinclo

After the victory of Patrik Kinzl, there was a huge wave of criticism of the defeated Karlos. We really haven't seen so many negative comments lately... And maybe it's no wonder, because after the fight Karlos disappeared like steam over a pot and nobody really knew why he did it and what was going on in his head. Yesterday, however, Karlos made his statement public and you can read how the Terminator perceives the whole situation.

Kinclo's reaction:

"My first words? It's been a long journey, of course, and it has stirred up a lot of emotions not only in me, but in you as well. Today, of course, I came for closure, but it didn't work out. However, we switched to a tactic where it worked and where I didn't feel threatened. Mostly I beat Karl at his own game. That's an even bigger win than if I had shut him down here in the first round. It was his game that I was able to outplay him in. Thank you all so much for your support. Thank you very much indeed.

The damage you do to your opponent is what makes the difference. So are the punches. He was rolling on the wall after me and working, but he wasn't really doing anything. He was hung up on me and that was just enough. I was gradually closing him down and trusting the referee to see it the same way it should be scored.

That's Karl's style, that's how he wrestles unless you get him someone he can make a name for himself in the first round. You'll get a similar spectacle in other fights with evenly matched opponents, I think."

Karlos' reaction:

The long awaited game is over and it didn't go as I expected. Even though a lot of people said I won it, it doesn't matter now because I should have ended it and left no one in doubt.

I went into the fifth round thinking I was in the lead. If I knew I wasn't, I would have gone into the last round differently and I would have risked getting knocked out... Patrick is the champion, that's just the way it is. If you want to beat a champion, you have to run him over or finish him, and unfortunately I didn't do that.

I won't repeat what I did to my family, friends, team and everyone around me with dropping to 84, so I'm not going back to that weight. No more gambling with my own health. There are younger and better guys out there for this, and my body just doesn't cut it anymore, that's for sure.

I'm sorry I didn't make it to the postgame press conference, but unfortunately my eyes took a beating in the game and I had to go straight to the hospital for a checkup. Those who know me know that I respect my opponents and I can do my duty even after a loss, but my health came first.

Now I have time to get myself together. But my career is not over yet. I have already arranged fights with the Octagon and I will keep them, I am the welterweight champion after all. We'll see what happens next. I'll think about everything in peace.

I'll comment more soon on @fightcastone, where I accepted the invitation. But until then I want to rest a bit and spend some time with my family, which I haven't had time to do lately because of my preparations for the fight. Family just comes first. So try to give me some peace and quiet.
