From 80 pounds to a monstrous 138! The Strongest Czech Reveals What 18 Years of Brutal Hard Work Will Do to His Body
When you see him today, he looks more like an unstoppable tank than an ordinary man. Jan Jiruše, currently the strongest man in the Czech Republic, is the definition of absolute strength. But even he wasn't born a giant. He recently revealed his past and showed what his starting line looked like eighteen years ago.
It's a sight that shatters the myth that talent is everything. In 2007, Jiruse was an athletic youngster weighing around 80 kilograms. Today? The scale below him shows 138 kilograms. But this is no overweight, but a functional mass built up by thousands of hours under a heavy axle. The difference is a whopping 58 kilograms that separates an "ordinary kid" from an elite powerlifter.
Numbers that take your breath away
Jirushi's transformation is not just about visual change, it's all about performance. His current strength stats are a science fiction tale for the layman and a nightmare for his opponents. The Czech record holder currently boasts the following peak performances:
- Deadlift: 442.5 kg
- Squat: 400 kg
- Bench-press: 300 kg
All in all, he is attacking limits in triathlon that were only whispered about in the Czech Republic for a long time.
Hair down, muscles up
The strongman himself takes his life transformation with humour and insight. While sharing an archival photo to fans on social media, he joked about how his facial appearance has changed. While in 2007 he had a luxuriant mane, today his trademark is a bald head and a massive beard.
"What was on my head just came down to my chin," he gushed with a smile.
But his story carries a clear message: consistency is the key. The journey from 80 to 138 kilograms was not a sprint, but a marathon spanning nearly two decades.
A meeting of giants
That Jiruše has reached world-class status is confirmed not only by the numbers, but also by the people he meets. During his trip to Iceland this year, he had the opportunity to train and talk with Hafthor Björnsson, the legendary strongman and Game of Thrones actor. For Jiruše it was a dream come true and confirmation that hard work in Czech gyms bears fruit on the international stage.
Jan Jiruše is proof that the limits of the human body are much further than most of us can admit. And as he says - he doesn't stop, he keeps going.
