Eddie Hall downed Pudzianowski in just 30 seconds!
Recently, there has been a big trend among well-known athletes across disciplines to measure their strength in the ring or cage, whether in boxing or MMA. And just one such closely watched fight took place on Saturday night at the KSW 105 tournament in Gliwice, Poland. Former 2017 World's Strongest Man, Britain's Eddie Hall, made his professional MMA debut there against another powersports legend, Polish icon and five-time World's Strongest Man winner Mariusz Pudzianowski. Pudzianowski, unlike Hall, has had a long and successful MMA career in the KSW organization. Hall couldn't have asked for a better start in this fight... albeit with the ensuing controversy.
"The Beast" Hall took on the vastly more experienced Mariusz Pudzianowski, a Polish legend not only in strongman, but also on the European MMA scene. A thrilling battle of styles was expected, but it was all done before the fans could settle in.
Eddie Hall flew into the fight with great vigor and after a few hard punches sent Pudzianowski to the ground. A barrage of punches followed, after which the referee was forced to stop the fight. Time? A whopping 30 seconds of the first round! Eddie Hall won by technical knockout and scored the scalp of a big name in his first professional start in mixed martial arts.
However, this lightning triumph also sparked a wave of controversy and criticism. Many fans and commentators point out that Eddie Hall hit his opponent with several banned punches to the back of the head during the final strikes on the ground. This has sparked debates about the legality of the ending of the fight.
Despite the controversy, this is the official result and Hall's debut has garnered a lot of attention. The coming days will tell what will happen next for the British MMA strongman, and whether there will be an investigation into the course of the fight's ending.
