Dorian Yates could have died before his last Olympia!

Dorian Yates, a six-time Mr. Olympia winner, recently revealed serious health complications he faced before his last competition in 1997. Six weeks before the competition, he began coughing up blood and was hospitalized with internal bleeding in his stomach and esophagus. Despite this life-threatening situation, he decided to continue training and eventually won his sixth Mr. Olympia title.

"The only life-threatening thing that could have caused me to die happened six weeks before the '97 Olympia. I started coughing up blood."

"I went to the hospital and they said I had internal bleeding in my upper stomach and esophagus."

Yates also reflected on steroid use in his time and compared it to the current situation. He mentioned that he had elevated kidney and liver enzyme levels during his career. However, he stated that the current use of these substances is different.

His experience highlights the importance of health surveillance and caution when using performance enhancing substances in bodybuilding.
