Bodybuilder Brandon Hendrickson withdraws from Men's Physique Olympia 2024

Brandon Hendrickson has withdrawn from Olympia 2024 in the Men's Physique category. In a recent Instagram post, Hendrickson confirmed that he will not be participating in this weekend's Mr. Olympia 2024 competition, which takes place from October 10-13 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Hendrickson is healthy, but explained that his body needs a break from competing. He is a former three-time Men's Physique Olympia champion, winning the title in 2018, 2020 and 2021. He has been on the main stage since 2014, so his absence is a big blow to the lineup. In 2023, Hendrickson narrowly missed out on becoming a four-time Men's Physique Olympia winner, finishing second behind reigning champion Ryan Terry. The 60th anniversary edition of the competition was marred by the withdrawal of several athletes, with Hendrickson being one of the last.

He didn't want to go into a long description of why he withdrew from the competition, but he confirmed that he hadn't trained for it. During a recent Instagram live broadcast, he shared with viewers of the Colosseum Pro 2024 in Milan, Italy that he would not be participating in the competition. "Looks like you just found out. I've been keeping it quiet all year," he shared his impressions. "Please don't start with the health rumours, I just wanted to take it easy this year. I'll be back for my 2025 stuff."

Although Hendrickson won't be competing, a stellar lineup awaits fans in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ryan Terry will be looking to become a two-time Men's Physique Olympia titleholder, but he'll have to once again overcome the physique, broad back and posing mastery of former titleholder Erin Banks, who won the grand competition in 2022.

Should Hendrickson stay in the competition, he would have a chance to make history by equaling Jeremy Buendia's four Men's Physique Olympia titles. With his elimination, there could be a new contender for the gold. Don't miss our complete coverage of the Mr. Olympia 2024 weekend, which takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada.
