A fight broke out in the 24/7 gym and turned into a shootout! One man died...

In the US, fitness centers that offer 24/7 access to their clients are very common. Although this type of establishment can be great, it is clear that there are two sides to every coin and therefore this business can also have a negative impact. And just last night in Brentwood, California, one such fitness center was the scene of a shootout that ended with four injuries and one dead.

Journalist Ryan Curry reported on the initial scene and shared an update on Twitter Thursday morning.

A lieutenant at the scene says there was a large altercation that continued into the parking lot. That altercation turned into a shootout. 4 injured. 1 deceased.

Subsequently, Lieutenant Walter O'Grodnick of the Brentwood Police Department issued a statement on the incident.

"There was some sort of altercation that took place inside the 24 Hour Fitness Center. Things escalated and at least two shooters pulled out firearms and exchanged gunfire with each other," Lt. O' Grodnick said.

Police said it was an isolated incident. They have detained two suspects but have not yet made arrests.

In the latest development, the gym's parking lot has now been reopened and police have confirmed it was not an accidental shooting. It's unclear if the incident was gang-related as police are working to find a motive. Police say the fight broke out just before 2 a.m. Some of the people involved have been identified, but police would not say if the shooters were also injured.
