Olympia 2025 Preview: who will be the new king of Classic Physique?

For six years we have known the name of a single ruler. For six years, the throne of the Classic Physique category belonged to Chris Bumstead. But that era is over. The legendary champion has hung up his swimsuit and the bodybuilding world is anxiously awaiting to see who will take the crown from him. This year's Mr. Olympia in Las Vegas promises to be the most open and exciting contest in years.

The Classic Physique category has been shaken to its foundations. Not only has the dominant "CBum" left, but another favorite, Germany's Urs Kalecinski, has moved up to the Men's Open category. The stage is thus perfectly set for the birth of a new legend. Who has the best chance of making history?

Main favourites for the title

• Mike Sommerfeld: For many, he is the number one favourite. After breathing down the back of Bumstead himself in 2024 and dominating the prestigious Arnold Classic this year, he's poised for the success of a lifetime. His greatest weapon is his sheer poise without a single weakness. Is Sommerfeld ready to become the new benchmark of the category?
• Ramon Queiroz "Dino" : Brazilian phenomenon and crowd favourite. He was the main challenger and silver medalist in 2022 and 2023. Although last year didn't go as expected (4th place), his incredible physique and determination still put him among the absolute top. Fans believe he has what it takes to win the title.
• Terrence Ruffin "Ruff Diesel". Wins at the Pittsburgh Pro and New York Pro 2025 prove his hunger for success. Ruffin has proven in the past that he can beat the best, and his experience makes him an extremely dangerous opponent.
• Breon Ansley: We can't forget the one man in the starting field who already knows what it's like to be at the top. The two-time champion from 2017 and 2018 wants to prove that he's not old hat yet. His experience could be key in such an evenly matched battle.

Who can surprise?

Besides the main four, there are several "dark horses" in the game who can shuffle the cards. Logan Franklin relies on extreme sculpting, the ever-improving Matt Greggo impresses with his poses and Michael Daboul is known for his uncompromising form.
