Derek Lunsford dominated the Pittsburgh Pro 2025! Results and report

The bodybuilding world watched with excitement one of the most anticipated fights of the spring last night, Saturday, May 10, 2025. And it was the reigning Arnold Classic 2025 champion, Derek Lunsford, who took home the Pittsburgh Pro 2025 Men's Open title after a thrilling performance. His victory was not easy to come by, however, and fans witnessed a dramatic contest that will go down in the history of this prestigious event.

A historic triumph

This year's Pittsburgh Pro was exceptional. For the first time in history, the Men's Open royal category was contested for the title, not just the traditional guest showcase. Lunsford's victory was all the more precious in a field of fourteen top pros at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. In addition to the prestigious title, Lunsford took home a $100,000 cash prize and confirmed his position as one of the top favorites for the upcoming Mr. Olympia 2025. (Although as a former Mr. Olympia, he no longer needed to qualify, his hunger for victories is insatiable.)

Heart attack fight with Nick Walker

The road to victory, however, has been a thorny one for Lunsford. As expected, his biggest opponent was Nick "The Mutant" Walker. Both fighters showed breathtaking form and muscular readiness that had the crowd out of their seats. The judges didn't have it easy at all and after the final comparisons an unprecedented situation occurred - Lunsford and Walker had the same number of points! The winner had to be decided by an additional "tiebreaker" round, in which the judges finally awarded the victory to Derek Lunsford. This close fight only underlined the incredible level and rivalry on the current professional scene. Nick Walker took a great second place and Martin Fitzwater completed the podium in third place. Fifth place was taken by Slovak bodybuilder Michal "Križo" Križánek, who once again confirmed his belonging to the world's top bodybuilders.

Lunsford's quest for the Grand Slam continues

Derek Lunsford has made no secret of his ambitious plans for 2025. After his triumph at the Arnold Classic in January, he has notched up another major victory and is well on his way to his goal of winning the Arnold Classic, Pittsburgh Pro and Mr. Olympia in the same year. "To do the Arnold Classic, Pittsburgh Pro and Olympia in one year and win all three... that would be another monumental and historic moment in bodybuilding history. And it's incredibly motivating for me," Lunsford has let his voice be heard before. His performance in Pittsburgh showed that he is willing to go the extra mile for that goal.

Testimonials and other results

As it is the case with such close fights, there are heated discussions on social media and among fans about whether the result was fair. But that doesn't change the fact that Derek Lunsford and Nick Walker put on a show that will be remembered for a long time.

In the other categories that took place on Saturday, Terrence Ruffin in Classic Physique and Erin Banks in Men's Physique took the win. The Pittsburgh Power & Fitness Festival competition weekend continues today, Sunday, May 11, with more categories.

For Derek Lunsford, winning in Pittsburgh is another important step on his journey to bodybuilding immortality. Fans are already looking forward to his next performances and especially the Mr. Olympia title fight where he will try to complete his dream "Grand Slam". One thing is for sure - the 2025 bodybuilding season is underway and offers a thrilling spectacle!
