Classic Physique Olympia 2022 semifinals - Patrik Herčzík made it to the 3rd call-up!

Olympia Weekend, as the top event for most bodybuilding fans, brings a very good spectacle. Although the biggest attractions are usually the categories up to 212 pounds and Open, the whole weekend is marked by many other divisions, including a Czech representative in the packed Classic Physique category. The only male member of the Czech team at Mr. Olympia was Patrik Hercik and we have been following the competition for you.

The start list was bursting at the seams

If you show someone a massive bodybuilder like Big Ramy, they will probably tell you that they don't like a bulky and massive physique like that at all. And such opinions resonate not only among the non-bodybuilding public, but also among the athletes themselves. Maybe that's why the classic physique category, where athletes try to maintain aesthetics despite the muscle volume, is gaining more and more popularity. Over 60 athletes were nominated in this category at the prestigious Olympia and it was certainly not easy to choose the best of them. In total, there were 9 heats in which the judges compared the well prepared giants with each other.

And it should be noted that the Czech representative Patrik Hercik got to the third call-up, which is not a bad performance considering how well prepared the elite athletes were at this year's Olympia. However, much more attention was logically paid to the first and last evocation. The individual callouts looked as follows:

First callout

  • Breon Ansley
  • Urs Kalecinski
  • Fabian Mayr
  • Ramon Rocha Queiroz
  • Terrence Ruffin
  • Mike Sommerfeld
  • Wesley Vissers
  • Chris Bumstead

Second Invocation

  • Adam Bomert
  • Alex Cambronero
  • Michael Daboul
  • Jorge Herrera
  • Chen Kang
  • Kyrylo Khudaiev
  • Jaehun Park
  • Gabriel Zancanelli

The Third Invocation

  • Abdullah Wael Alrabiah
  • Neil Currey
  • Camilo Diaz
  • Mehdi Larijani
  • Alexander Westermeier
  • Darwin Andres Uribe Aristizabal
  • Dancovea Anderson
  • Patrik Hercik
  • Ali Poladvand

Of course, Chris Bumstead, also known as Cbum, attracted the most attention during the first callout. He has won the Olympia three times in the past and would of course be happy to win a fourth time. But among the athletes who had a realistic chance to take the title from him in the past were also the crowned Breon Ansley, the winner of two Arnolds Terrence Ruffin, Urs Kalecinski and the Brazilian athlete Ramon Rocha Queiroz. After a grueling nine callouts, the judges decided to still challenge Cbum and the aforementioned Brazilian to a duel, so it is likely that they will face each other for the win. In any case, the final will take place in the early hours of the morning our time and we can go to bed knowing that it will be an even fight and, from the point of view of impartial fans, a first-class spectacle.
