Although 2020 has been a difficult year for everyone, it has been a really challenging time for 80-year-old Chris. First, he suffered a hip fracture, for which he was hospitalized. He subsequently suffered a heart attack and had to resort to a pacemaker. However, Dickerson also contracted the Covid-19 virus at that time, but he managed to overcome all these difficulties. Because of his heart problems, Chris had to stay in a convalescent center where he died on December 23, 2021...

A brief look at Chris Dickerson's bodybuilding career

Chris Dickerson was born in Montgomery, Alabama on August 25, 1939 as the youngest of three brothers. He did not make his bodybuilding debut until he was twenty-seven years old in 1965 at Mr. Long Beach with a third place finish and turned professional in 1973. Over the course of a thirty-year career, Chris Dickerson managed to win 15 professional bodybuilding competitions in four major organizations.

Known for his heavily muscled and symmetrical physique, Chris Dickerson was especially praised for his posing skills during his bodybuilding career. Dickerson last competed at Masters Olympia in 1994 and retired from competing after winning the 50+ division. He was inducted into the IFBB Hall of Fame in 2000.

Dickerson is the fifth Olympia champion to die. Less than two months ago, 2018 Olympia champion Shawn Rhoden passed away.
