Bodybuilder Sergio Fernandez was shot and killed in a robbery!
Author: Sergio Fernandez started competing in the NPC in 2014. He finished first in the men's heavyweight division at the NPC Europa Show Of Champions. He continued in this division until 2018, when he secured a silver medal at the NPC Gainesville Classic at the Florida State Championships. During this show, he also won a gold medal in the Masters Over 40 division. Sergio has also competed against some current IFBB competitors who have competed in the NPC in the past. One of those is Brazilian pro Rafael Brandão.
However, after his retirement from competing, Sergio has remained loyal to bodybuilding. In fact, he started working as an editor for Muscular Development Latino magazine. However, thanks to his great expressive skills, he was also an excellent speaker and motivator who inspired many people. At the same time, he was also a trainer who was able to push his charges a little further on their journey!
But life is unpredictable and one forty-year-old Fernandez was shot dead during a robbery on Monday. The accident happened after Sergio left a gym in Naucalpan, Mexico City. The former bodybuilder is survived by his wife Alessa De Leon and four-month-old son David. Further details of the incident are not yet known.
