In Sao Paulo, Brazil, as we informed you in this article with the legendary Arnold Schwarzenegger, the seventh edition of the Arnold Sports Festival South America took place from 12 to 14 March.

The highlight of this event was not only the strongman wrestling, but as it is every year, also the duels of professional bodybuilders.
Last year, professionals from the competitive IFBB Elite Pro gathered here, otherwise this competition belongs under the banner of the IFBB Jim Manion Professional League.

Ten fighters took the stage, with Akim Williams, Juan Morel and Rafael Brandao being the biggest favourites. It was these fighters, accompanied by Essa Obaid, who stood in front of the judges immediately in the first semi-final comparison.

The course of the semi-final then showed that the American Juan Morel and the local fighter Rafael Brandao would share the triumph. Akim Williams and Essa Obaid then battled it out for third place.

Juan Morel had set top form for this contest, being a little more subtle than has been his wont in the past. In addition, he possessed a distinctive X-shaped torso. It was this combination that ultimately led him to his fifth professional victory.

The second place went to Rafael Brandao, who, although he had a more complex physique, lost to his opponent in form and strength. Perhaps if he had presented himself on the podium in the same form as he did at the Arnold Classic in March, things might have been different.

Third place was eventually won by the massive Akim Williams. He benefited not only from his= massiveness but also his fullness of muscle. However, the form that had already started to be one of his strengths this year was there again.

Fourth place went to Essa Obaid, who, although tighter than his opponent, was too flat to break into the top 3.

Eddie Bracamontes was the last one to make it into the Top 5, and he competed in the form of his life here. Eddie also managed to delight Arnold, sitting in the audience, by choosing music from the cult film Brabar Conan for his free set.
