Arnold Classic Australia 2020 cancelled, Arnold Classic South America 2020 postponed!

Coronavirus. A word that is now inflected in every possible sense. A word that is now known literally all over the world! A word that is a huge bogeyman for many people!

Today and every day, we hear and even feel first-hand the measures that individual governments are putting in place to protect their populations and to reduce the possibility of this virus spreading!

For a few days now, for example, we have not been able to go to the pub in the evening or to the gym to give our bodies a workout.

As of this morning, we can no longer go to a pub or restaurant during the day, nor can we buy paints, varnishes and other hobby equipment.

But the important thing is that we can still rely on grocery stores, gas stations, and pet supply stores!

Back to sport, though, and the impact of these various measures on it.

A number of domestic bodybuilders are addressing the question of their current preparations. Some have no place to train, others will probably lose the goal they were aiming for. Competitions are not only moved, but also cancelled, and especially the ones across the pond are forbidden for our countrymen for the time being, because the American president has banned everyone from the Schengen area from entering the USA!

How long this measure will last is still a big unknown, and Pavel Beran, Milan Šádek or Slavoj Bednář, who were planning to stand on the stage of the New York Pro 2020, are waiting for some more information.

But the New York Pro is relatively far away, so Jim Manion's IFBB Professional League management isn't concerned. Other competitions are currently being addressed, namely the Arnold Classic Australia 2020 and the Arnold Classic South America 2020!

These were supposed to be competitions that would provide a great spectacle, as many of those who fought on the stage of the Arnold Classic 2020 in early March would be there!

These events were to be important for the veteran Dexter Jackson, who is ending his varied sporting career this year!

Last night it was announced that the Arnold Classic South America 2020, which was scheduled to take place in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Saturday, April 25, has been postponed!

Arnold Sports Festival South America, the largest multi-sport event in South America, reports that the event originally scheduled for April 24-26 in Sao Paulo will be postponed. A new date for the event, still falling in 2020, will be announcedsoon.
The postponement of the event was based on the recommendation of the Ministry of Health and the authorities in Sao Paulo, which recommend the cancellation or postponement of major events in order to minimize the transmission of the COVID-19 virus, as well as the World Health Organization's declaration that the current situation is already a pandemic.

At that moment, the question mark was also hovering over the Arnold Classic Australia 2020, which was to take place in Melbourne, Australia, from 20 to 22 March 2020!

At the time, many thought that if the Arnold Classic in South America was postponed, it was almost certain that its Australian sister would suffer the same fate.

However, the organisers commented on the possible postponement or cancellation last night:

We regret to announce the cancellation of the professional categories at the Arnold Classic Australia this week. The strict travel restrictions that are in place in many countries make it impossible to guarantee that we can not only bring all our athletes here to Australia, but also ensure their safe return home.
The health and safety of all involved is what has made this decision the only possible and responsible course of action for our international athletes.
We await further advice and recommendations on the fair, the amateur competition and the many other events we have planned. Things are changing by the hour. At this time, we have no official regulations, guidelines or recommendations from our government. This is uncharted territory and we will do everything we can to protect the health and best interests of all involved.
