Arnold Classic Australia 2018 - results

A total of fourteen riders in the OPEN category were invited to participate in the fourth edition of the Arnold Classic Australia. Among them there were several who also participated in the Columbus Arnold Classic, i.e. William Bonac, Dexter Jackson, Roelly Winklaar, Dennis Wolf, Jonathan Delarosa, Hidetada Yamagishi and our Lukas Osladil.

Kevin Levrone, a legend of the sport, who decided to hang up his competitive swimsuit for good on this stage, was also among those invited.

An interesting duel was expected especially between the pair of William Bonac and Dexter Jackson, who had already fought for the victory at the aforementioned Arnold Classic, and here a rematch was expected.

However, as we all know very well, 14 days is quite a long time, and in a sport like bodybuilding this is doubly true. Form can come and go. And some of the fighters, unfortunately, have found this out for themselves.

Immediately in the first semi-final call-up, not only the aforementioned William Bonac and Dexter Jackson went at it, but also the monstrous Roelly Winklaar was invited to join them. The latter, besides his brutally monstrous volumes, was also in much better shape than he was in Columbus.

It was the brutal volumes and much better form, combined with very good control of the abdominal muscles, which as a result visually narrowed the waist, that led Roelly Winklaar to triumph.

Winklaar himself, after his first ever victory at a competition bearing the name of the legend of the sport Arnold Schwarzenegger, besides his triumph at the Arnold Classic Amateur in 2009, which made Roelly enter the world of professional bodybuilding, said that he triumphed mainly thanks to the cooperation with former professional Chris Cormier, under whose guidance he trained posing at the Oxygen Gym in Kuwait.

Second place went to 2018 Arnold Classic winner William Bonac. He looks a little less tough here than he did just in Columbus.

Third place went to Dexter Jackson. The latter is clearly plagued by an injury to his left arm, which was clearly more subtle, less sculpted, and significantly more waterlogged than his right arm.

A great fourth place in Melbourne went to a perfectly prepared Lukas Osladil. Our fighter showed much better form here than he did at the Arnold Classic, and without a doubt he can be described as the best prepared fighter in the starting field.
If the judges had moved him ahead of Dexter, surely nobody would have objected much.

Hidetada Yamagishi, who has been competing in the 212lb division for the last few seasons, also managed to make his way into the top 5. However, as you can see, even among the heavyweights this Japanese still has a lot to offer.

Among the other fighters, let's mention, just like at the 2018 Arnold Classic, the eighth-ranked Jonathan Delarosa. He has worked to achieve much better results here. However, as it turned out, it didn't work out. Here too, Jonathan looked soft and subtle.

Dennis Wolf hasn't done as well so far, finishing tenth. He too falls short of his standard volumes and form.

Only thirteenth place was left for the aforementioned Kevin Levrone. Before the competition, he had predicted that he would be much more massive on stage than he was at Mr. Olympia 2017. He did manage to do that, but at the expense of form. It was much worse here, and he lost to his rivals in almost all aspects.
