Arnold Classic 2022 without Nathan De Asha and Mohamed Shaaban!

We are now some 4 weeks away from the start of the competition season for the heavyweights competing in Jim Manion's IFBB Professional League. The 2022 Arnold Classic is scheduled for March 4-5.
A number of very good fighters were supposed to compete there, but their ranks are thinning!

After Rafael Brandão announced his non-participation, another pair of fighters have joined the ranks and unfortunately will not be taking part in the competition.

The pair are British professional Nathan De Asha and his Egyptian colleague Mohamed Shaaban.

The former injured his left biceps during a photo shoot about a fortnight ago. Initially, it appeared to be only a pulled muscle, as the arm did not swell or bruise. But when the pain persisted, Nathan sought medical attention. On examination, it was found to be a small tear in the lower part of the biceps. Nathan is now out of surgery and believes that this injury will not affect the shape of his biceps.

He will now take a few days to recuperate, after which he will start preparing for the 2022 Mr. Olympia, which he qualified for thanks to his triumph at the first Arnold Classic UK last year. In the same breath, he adds that he believes in his participation in the Arnold Classic 2023!

The latter has been struggling with neck and thoracic spine pain for three months. Like Nathan, he decided to see a doctor. The latter sent him for an MRI scan, which showed that the cervical discs between the C5/C6 vertebrae had been eroded and that the discs in the thoracic spine between the T8/T9 and T9/T10 vertebrae were already pressing on the spinal nerves and causing the pain.

For the next few weeks, recovery will take place in the form of visits to a physiotherapist. Mohamed hopes that he will be able to get back on track soon and will be able to compete for the qualification for Mr. Olympia 2022 this season. He also hopes that he will receive an invitation from the organizers to the next edition of the prestigious show, as it has always been his dream to stand on the stage of the Arnold Classic.
