Ahmad Ashkanani, the star of the 212-pound division, prepares for the 2019 Olympia 212 Showdown

Kuwait's Ahmad Ashkanani is undoubtedly one of the stars of Jim Minion's IFBB Professional League 212lb division. He is also one of the top athletes training in the Kuwaiti gym network Oxygen Gym.

Ahmad headed among the professional elite in 2016 when he managed to absolutely dominate the Arnold Classic Australia Amateur. After that, his career took a very clear path to the absolute top of the under 212lb category!

He first went on to triumph in his debut at the 2016 PBW Tampa Pro, qualifying for the 2016 Olympia 212 Showdown. Here he then took everyone's breath away when he pretty much embarrassed James Lewis and took a great second place!

In the 2017 season, he then added a very valuable triumph at the Arnold Classic 212, then defended his second place at the Olympia 212 Showdown.

However, last season was not so successful for him, due to protracted health problems. He had an umbilical hernia operation, meniscus surgery on his knee, and respiratory problems that also required hospitalization.
Due to these circumstances, his preparation was not quite optimal, which also reflected on his form. He had to settle for fourth place at the Olympia 212 Showdown 2018.

So far this year, he hasn't had any complications and is preparing hard for his third Olympia Weekend, where he will surely be one of the contenders for the triumph in the absence of James "Flex" Lewis, who left the 212lb division and plans to join the Open category.

Below, you can watch a video of Ahmad training his thighs, which are not only his biggest weakness. The next video then features slightly older footage of him training his chest.
