Pistachios come from the pistachio tree, which is also sometimes called the true pistachio. Originally from Asia and the Middle East, the tree is now widely cultivated, especially in the USA, Turkey and Iran. It is one of the oldest cultivated crops and is more suited to drier subtropical climates.
