Tritan is an absolutely revolutionary plastic for bottle manufacturing. It is extremely drop-resistant, 100% free of BPA and phthalates, but its biggest advantage is that it absolutely does not absorb odors or stains. You can mix a strongly flavored fruity BCAA drink one day, and drink pure water from it the next day without tasting any leftover flavor from yesterday's workout.
The body of the bottle itself (if made of Tritan or high-quality hard plastic) can usually go in the dishwasher, but always place it on the top rack where the temperature is lower. However, we strongly recommend washing the lid and its rubber or silicone seals exclusively by hand. Hot water and aggressive dishwasher pods quickly dry out the rubber, which could cause your bottle to start leaking in your gym bag.
You have to be very careful with the type of lid you choose here! If you pour sparkling water into a bottle with a "click" (flip-top) lid, the gas pressure can easily pop the lid open inside your bag and cause a flood. For carbonated beverages, always choose bottles with a classic, secure screw-on cap without exception.
Absolutely not into regular PET bottles or cheap cycling bidons, which would warp instantly. Bottles made of Tritan can withstand temperatures up to around 90°C (194°F), but the material quickly transfers heat and will burn your hands; plus, it won't keep your drink warm for long. If you want to carry hot tea or coffee, invest in a dedicated, double-walled stainless steel thermal flask.
In the gym, you usually need to take a quick sip between sets, and your hands are often sweaty. The best options are flip-top lids that you can pop open with one finger, or bottles with a pull-top sports spout (nipple). Wide-mouth screw-top bottles are great for cleaning, but if you try to drink from them quickly while on the treadmill, you are very likely to spill water all over yourself.
